Reflection 9

Technology integration in today's society is very advanced and used in almost every community. I think that technology is needed for about 80% of activities done now. In my 2nd reflection of the class I stated similar things, but I was a big supporter of the SMARTboard and it's technology. Now I think that SMART technology is a very difficult/costly thing that may not be "needed" in every classroom. I wasn't as aware of how difficult the boards could be, I had worked with them before and had done multiple projects/activities on them and thought it was an easy substitute to regular boards. Now I think that I would design my future classroom as one that is suitable for every student, smart technology for ones who were familiar with it and for the ones who wanted to learn more about it. But I would also include a basic white board and projector.

Reflection 8

From the two readings that I read on I learned that interactive whiteboard technology is very costly and that there are also a few alternatives that people may use that cost less. I think that smartboards are very helpful and that students that have teachers that use them will benefit from it. But from what research shows, using this technology in classrooms were not as beneficial as they are thought up to be. This is because the boards features aren't used to their full potential. I had smartboard technology in my classroom because I thought using the clicker quizzes would help. Smartboards can be used as a great communication tool because of how visual they are. With the visual/physical interaction comes a form of communication that is common in today's life. With great communication comes collaboration. As I mentioned earlier, I would use the clicker quiz feature of the smart technology. This allows the students to either do the quizzes alone or as a group. Every technological thing has its defects, and the smartboard has a few of its own. The only defect I could put my finger on was the over use of digital flip charts. I still would buy a smartboard , but after reading up on them, I now know the do's and don'ts and what things should be used while teaching on one.

Copyright Reflection

In order to help my students understand copyright , I would first ask them what all they knew about it. This will help inform me on which topics i don't need to run over as long. But I would spend some time on them. But the things that they don't know as much about , I would go over them until they understood, then give a pop quiz on the computer asking them things that I went over.
Sometimes it takes students a while to understand things so I would also assign a 1 page research paper on copyright and would also show a video much like the one you showed our class. My strategy seems to be on that drives things into the ground, but I think that is a great way to make students remember a lot.

Reflection 5

Communication is a way of interacting. In today's world, without communication there are great limitations to what goes on between you and others. Communication is needed in some type of way. Forms of communication can be vocal, sign, text, etc. Vocal is used most in the world. Everyone may not be able to communicate vocally though, which is why there are other forms.
I would prefer communicating vocally while in person. But if there was a time that we were not together and you asked if I wanted to talk on the phone or text, I would chose text. I hate talking on the phone (vocal communication without seeing the person) because you can't see what the person is feeling. I'd rather be face to face in order to feel out the person.

Reflection 4

I feel as if I am a digital native because I very computer/technological savvy. In my home if there is ever any problems with technology or setting up anything that has to do with technology I fix it or tell others how to fix or set it up. I really think the idea of the digital generation doesn't my impact of meeting the needs of my future students because I feel as if the generation will develop a lot but will not have any major differences from the generation of today. The generation is like today's iPhone's , the updates and new phones have the same features and look with only a few new add on's.

Reflection 3

While reading the chapter from Meaningful Learning I was surprised about how early technology was being thought of as to use in teaching and learning. I thought technology was not used in teaching until the 70's. I found it to be amazing how technology in education developed throughout the years. The use of the words, "microcomputer" and "mainframe" made me smile and laugh about what they were called then and what they are called now even though the words mean the same.
The part about how technologies shouldn't control changed my idea of using technologies in education. That statement is true because you do not want a classroom that is pure technology based. It would be fun but you also have to have someone, like a teacher, that will help guide students and will setup certain activities for students to do with the technologies. The ideas of  how technologies foster learning seemed to be the most important to me. In today's classrooms i think technologies are a must.

Reflection 2

In a 21st century classroom technology can be used many ways. I think most classrooms have advanced technology today. There are SMARTboards, ipads, the internet, etc. These are a few things that can be used and that can also be great for students to be interactive in class. Becoming more interactive in class sometimes leads to a student having better performance and grades.
If i were teacher i would most defiantly use a  SMARTboard and other SMART technology like the clickers/remotes. I would use those during quiz's or group work. I've used those in high school and they made learning fun and it seemed as everyone was paying more attention.

Reflection 1

Reflection Paper 1
I am a visual learner, that may be good thing but I would like to become more of a visual/active learner because I am an active person. The types of stuff that I like to do are photograph and video things. I like to be hands on and I like to be able to see things develop. So if we ever did things in class that dealt with us participating in interactive activities, I would enjoy it and would learn more and easier.
My favorite subject would have to be between English and Science. I like English because it is one of the easiest subjects of them all because it is basically common sense, even though I sometimes mess up a sentence every now and then. I like science because I like to learn about organisms and other interesting things that deal with science. It is a lot to learn and is also a challenge but sometimes I like challenges. I think that my most interesting learning experience so far would have to be learning how to adapt to each and every class. I didn’t study much at the beginning of last semester and I learned that in college you must study every night, because if not, you will not get a good result.
The role of technology in my life is important. I use technology every day and almost all day; whether if it is my iPhone, watching TV, playing my PS3, or on my laptop. I am always tweeting and I am always on Instagram. Without things like those, I could not function right. I love technology. I am always on the internet searching for software updates and new electronic products. I also like to look up those products background information.
