Reflection 9

Technology integration in today's society is very advanced and used in almost every community. I think that technology is needed for about 80% of activities done now. In my 2nd reflection of the class I stated similar things, but I was a big supporter of the SMARTboard and it's technology. Now I think that SMART technology is a very difficult/costly thing that may not be "needed" in every classroom. I wasn't as aware of how difficult the boards could be, I had worked with them before and had done multiple projects/activities on them and thought it was an easy substitute to regular boards. Now I think that I would design my future classroom as one that is suitable for every student, smart technology for ones who were familiar with it and for the ones who wanted to learn more about it. But I would also include a basic white board and projector.

Reflection 8

From the two readings that I read on I learned that interactive whiteboard technology is very costly and that there are also a few alternatives that people may use that cost less. I think that smartboards are very helpful and that students that have teachers that use them will benefit from it. But from what research shows, using this technology in classrooms were not as beneficial as they are thought up to be. This is because the boards features aren't used to their full potential. I had smartboard technology in my classroom because I thought using the clicker quizzes would help. Smartboards can be used as a great communication tool because of how visual they are. With the visual/physical interaction comes a form of communication that is common in today's life. With great communication comes collaboration. As I mentioned earlier, I would use the clicker quiz feature of the smart technology. This allows the students to either do the quizzes alone or as a group. Every technological thing has its defects, and the smartboard has a few of its own. The only defect I could put my finger on was the over use of digital flip charts. I still would buy a smartboard , but after reading up on them, I now know the do's and don'ts and what things should be used while teaching on one.
